Objectives - After Attending This Program You Should Be Able To
1. Understand the science behind COVID-19 including transmission and the impact on travel medicine.
2. Understand and discuss health security, public health emergency response and populations on the move, such as migrants.
3. Understand the approach to syndromic presentations in returned travelers such as neurologic, dermatologic, diarrhea, etc.
4. Learn the most common diseases contracted by travelers, including those classified as emerging threats, as well as the best advice regarding preventative measures.
5. Understand travelers with chronic diseases, children, elderly and pregnant travelers, special populations (e.g. migrants, VFRs), and high-risk travelers (e.g. ill and older travelers).
6. Understand advances in new diagnostic tools in bacterial and viral infections.
7. Understand and discuss specific important tropical diseases seen in both migrants and returned travelers such as malaria, schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis among others.
8. Understand and discuss vectorborne illnesses as they relate to travelers.
